Question Limp Mode and P-R-N-D lights when cold....

********transmission valve body assembly???? (not sure if I need this, but when I turn the vehicle on either by auto car starter or key in the cold temps, vehicle goes into LIMP mode and indicators light up at once on dash....replaced TCM with and same happens...any other ideas or switches in transmission I should be looking at before solenoids in valve body)*****

Need more info, there are hundreds of issues that can place the TCM in limp mode. Do we know what the fault codes are in the TCM?

I do not have the code right now. All I can say is that it is very sporatic and happens more so when it is cold out. If I get the code, I will forward it on. In addition, it only happens when I turn my ignition key SLOWLY on (and all the PRND light up and goes ino LIMP MODE), or when I use the car starter.

To resolve both of these issues, I need to turn the car off, put the key in, and turn ignition quickly. It is almost like there is a bad connection somewhere. i had the stealership check all the wire to and from TCM, and even went as far as replacing TCM with another one. Someone suggested that it may be a solenoid wire shortening out at times.

How about changing fluid and filter in transmission....I heard this may hurt more than help....your thoughts? Thank you

sounds like an immobilizer problem but I don't know enough about it to say for sure.

Is the immobilizer in the car starter or is it in the transmission. To me, it sounds like a part within the car starter.....can you further on this because I never gave that a thought.

Its blanking impossible to diagnose without the fault codes, we can only speculate on whats wrong. The list includes:
Ignition switch
TR (transmission range switch)
Solinoids
Faulty relays
Gear selector switch
Wiring issues or communication issues between the ECM and TCM
and on and on and on.

Changing the fluid and filter will do absolutely nothing to fix your problem.
