Default Looking at 2001 A6 2.7T Quattro - need advice

Hi everyone,
I am new to Audi and am looking at a 2001 A6 2.7T Quattro and was hoping to get some feedback on what to ask and look for before buying this car. It has 61k miles, appears to be in great shape from the pictures. I will be heading to the dealership this afternoon to test drive and thought I would ask for some feedback. I have read mixed reviews on the overall reliability of Audi's and the cost of repairs is reportedly high. I would prefer to get feedback from the Audi enthusiasts who understand cars a little deeper than the average consumer who would never change their own oil. I have been a Mustang enthusiast for years having several later model and restored my 68 Fastback myself, so am a capable wrencher to a point. Your feedback and advice is appreciated.

Thanks,
Adam

Go for it, if you like it. However, be aware of the b+ service, that may be due in sometime and will require major part replacements...such as: timing etc. If those has not been replaced, then keep at least 3k in your pocket. I have driven Mustang, and believe me there is no comparison. This one is powerful, yet smooth. Welcome to the club of German engineering.

Thanks for the quick response. I also just saw and read the sticky at the top of the forum on the 2.7T - guess I should have looked for sticky's first ;-) Some good advice. More concerned about turbo failures and or other complications with turbo motors. My first car had a 4 cyl turbo and never had a turbo failure.

Just make sure that you warm up the Turbos and let them cool down before starting or stopping. Which means drive few mile within 40mph, before starting and stopping. My friend, who is an ***@#$ takes his car out from his garage, takes an exit to highway (which is less than 1miles) and hits it above 3000 rpm. Result: His dealer has advised him to replace the Turbos. He only has 58k miles or so. Also, be very careful with the engine oil level, as Turbos takes some part of it. If you follow the advise of some other experienced members here in this forum, you don't have to worry. I learned a lot from the guys here.
