Low Oil Temperature!! Help, I'm Worried
Alright everybody, this is my first post here, unfortunately it is on a bad note.
I just bought a used Audi A6 a few days ago. It is a 2003 with 61,000 miles with the 3.0 Engine.
It was running good, and I had no problems until today.
I turned on the car this afternoon and the oil temperature gauge was at the lowest level. I was really worried, and read it could be a major repair, costing thousands.
On the plus side, every other gauge reads fine, no warning lights are on, and the engine temp is fine as well. The oil level is okay too.
What could be wrong with my A6? Anything I could check on to help give you more info?
Please help.

RE: Low Oil Pressure!! Help, I'm Worried
now i look at my oil tempgauge and think 'hey cool, its at suchtemp', what does it actually mean? waht would be the concern of low temp? would it hint to low pressure as well because the oil is circulating?

Your oil is cold when you first start the car, everything is cold. It takes maybe 5 mins on the hwy before my oil temp gauge moves at all. What you didn't say in your post was does the gauge ever move off cold? After my 30 min hyw commute to work my gauge reads around 190-200 if I remember correctly.

RE: Low Oil Pressure!! Help, I'm Worried
As I was trying to advocate in an earlier thread this week,[>:] my opinion of a (Audi only) oil temperature gauge, instead of a useful oil pressure gauge, (you see, Audi wants to be different) they, those Germans, unlike their other German counterparts, Mercedes, BMW, even Volkswagen, set the true German mind, above all other Germancar Mfg'sabout the need for knowing OIL TEMPERATURE! I suppose this dates back to Auto-Union, but anyway, just as theresident Audi tech here has mentioned, and he is very likely correct, I think he knows his stuff,[8D] Don't have a Cow!
