Default Major tune up

I would like to do a major tune up on my 99 A6 Quattro 2.8L (automatic).

I want to change the spark plug wires, fuel filter, PCV valve, oxygen sensor oil filter, air filter, distributor cap and rotor. Am I forgetting anything?

What would this cost for me to do myself (if it's an easy task) as opposed to doing it at an autoshop or dealer?

well first of all your car doesnt have a distributor cap or rotor button, these cars have coils. Also, there is no PCV valve like you are used to seeing on traditional cars. Plugs, wires, fuel filter, O2 snesor, air filter are all easy DIY jobs.

Yeah, I was just told that I have no distributer cap. Sorry, I'm not experienced at all.

I guess all I really want to do is spark plugs, fuel filter, O2 sensor, and air filter.

for preventative maintenance, you can change the coolant temp sensor and vacuum lines; check the breather hose for any cracks and such.

also, you have 4 o2 sensors I'd wait until they gave you trouble (codes) to swap becuase the oem ones tend to cost a pretty penny.

And hopefully you have already changed original timing belt and etc parts around it.

You should probably flush the coolant and flush the brake fluid as well.

I say ... for a 1995 2.8L .
Well, at least the upstream ones. With this darn cold weather I haven't had a chance to get under the car and locate the downstream ones. Not that I need to replace them, but to know just in case.

LOL, not so much for my 01. The downstream ones are run down the back of the engine, along the top of the tranny, and then it drops to the cat. It really sucks. Probably super easy if the engine is out of the car. It was close to impossible with both my dad and I working on it, could not have been done alone! Well, the sensors are easy to get out, its the wiring...
I havent even thought about the uppers yet.

You should probably do the fuel filter as well. Cabin filter?
