From what I can tell the recommended size for a 19 on the A6 2.7T with 17" options are 235/35/19 however, I was wondering if either the 225/40/19 or 235/40/19 would fit, after seeing the carnage on the 215/35/19 I can safely say that I do need bigger sidewalls.

I would do 235 or 245/35 if you lower... rim width also matters.

 

They do look similar, but I got a great deal on these which is basically why i bought them. These are 19" Asanti AF128's. (http://superbuytires.com/Asanti/AF%20128/) be careful with chrome rims, not a lot of places will repair them. These are 3 piece rims, which keeps the repair costs somewhat down (Still $700 for the barrel) but it's better than paying $1024 for the whole rim I suppose.
