Misfire- Coil Pack???
Hey Guys,
I have a 2003 2.7L with 97k miles
I got the flashing CEL and found cyl 5 misfire.
Pulled the coil pack and the tip and plug were covered in oil .
Pulled the plug and cleaned everything up and expected it to run fine since I assumed the oil was shorting the plug.
It still misfired...
Moved the coil and it misfired in the new location.
OK, sounds like the coil.
Does anyone know if you can check them out with a multimeter.
I checked ohms at the pins they are all open to one another on both good and bad, is there something else to check?
BTW- what would cause the oil in the plug tube?
Thank you

Oil in the spark plug tube is likely due to leaking valve cover seals.

Replacing the coil pack did the trick.
No more misfires, runs great again.
Rock Auto had the Beck/Arnley version for $36
Thanks for the oil leak link CRuby, looks like that my next project
