Default Need advice

I have a 2000 audi a6 2.7t, and when i push the accelerator it sounds as if it is a garbage truck accelerating. Is this a problem? If so, what should I do about it? I am new to this forum, and I am getting mixed signals with prior research I have done and I've heard good things about this forum, so I just thought I would give it a shot.
The car runs just fine, it has about 137,000 miles.
It is a 6 speed.
Thanks

More info please. Does it onky make noise when moving or if you rev the engine in neutral does it make noise? If the latter, have someone rev it while you try and identify the source of the noise. Then we may be able to help more. It could be a hole in an exhaust, a broken pipe, etc.

I'm having a similar issue with my '97 A6 Quattro 2.8 V6. It just started the other day. I have the noise when it is idling AND my RPMs are jumping while accelerating. I'm hoping that it is my muffler, I haven't had my codes read yet. Dad's going to look at it with me today.

Hope we can figure this out without going to the dealer. Let me know what you find out
