It could be good, it could be not so good. At 150K, it might be time for timing belt and all to be done again, so see if it has been. It sounds like the previous owner drove it pretty hard. I'd say take it to an Audi mechanic and have a buyer's inspection done. That way they can let you know if it's been well maintained and what needs to be done in the near future. I wouldn't do the extra thousand for the wheels though, unless the tires are in nearly new condition. Do some research on common problems with the 4.2 so you know what to look for and know what to ask the mechanic about if you choose to take it there. Good luck!

You might also want to email the seller and ask them what maintenance, if any has been done recently. Also when you test drive it make sure you give it some gas, then let of quickly, if there is a thud from the rear of the car this means that the rear diff mount needs to be replaced. If you know someone with a VW\Audi OBD scanner you might want to ask them to check it out for you.

If you are worried about the "costs" of anything you should probably look at something else. Get yourself a $500 beater. Learn to wrench on it. take the money your Nana saved for you and invest that ****. if your $500 beater dies, scrap it for a few hundred (there is a place near me that will give you $400 for any car you bring in), and buy another $500 beater. learn to wrench on it. rinse. repeat as necessary.

leave that invested money alone. trust me, you will thank me later.

that 4.2 will burn through the money in your wallet faster than a woman

This^^ one of the main problems with the 4.2 is the tranny. It is very weak. Around 100k they fail.

Not to mention the money you will spend in gas.

If you absolutely insist on Audi look into the 2.8. Very economic and reliable engine.

Or like said above look for a beater car. Corollas in specific. Those cars refuse to die.

Well if you like the car that much, I'd say go for it. But just incase save about 100 a month for repairs. I just think for 5500 you can find an audi with lower miles.
