Exclamation Need help!!!

Hey all-
I completed my cat removal with an electric cut-out installed finally (have had a few issues with it not closing all the way but seems to be working fine now). The shop that did it did a great job on also mounting the sensors into the new pipes so I would not get a check engine light... However, I had an oil leak fix done yesterday (did not do the chain tensioner yet) and an oil change along with it and everything was fine. But later in the day today my check engine light came on... Note, I have never had one before... Any ideas as to why this might be? Aside from calling the "german" specialist who did the fix for me on Monday, I would like to know if it could have caused some other issue. The car is running fine with no problems, I'm just a little worried.

I would also like to know if anyone has some info on where I could get a code reader that is dependable...
Thanks to any who have some advice!
I will re post to this if the light goes away tomorrow :/

Get a VAG-COM reader for your laptop, then read the codes. The cheap ebay cables work fine. Your code could be anything.

.... compatable with all Audi's sold worldwide, 1990 or newer models.
Do they really sell it with the adaptor for < 1996 models?
The seller mispelled "compatible" in the description. I would definitely trust them
