I just picked up my A6 yesterday and the radio says SAFE. I understand I need a code, however, the used car dealer has not gotten back to me yet. He says all you need is the VIN# and he can get the code....I just called dealer and they said you need either the code or you have to bring it in to take out the radio to get the code. Don't want to pay that labor.....

Any help would be appreciated!!!

 

Check inside your manual. There may be a little sticker inside with 4 digits. Also it may be located in the spare tire well or on the trunk lid.

 

I do not have my manual but an Audi dealer also said to look inside the spare tire well....there is a white sticker with a bunch of different numkbers and info, however, none are only 4 digits. Will it be a tiny sticker with only 4 digits or will it be a 4 digit number on a larger white sticker with more info?? Thanks in advance for your help!!

 

I had your problem last week. Prodding around under the hood so I disconnected the battery lead for safety. Then lost the peice of paper with my code and couldn't remember it. Bought my car used so I called audi of america to find out what dealer sold car originally. Called that dealer and they still had the code on file. This should work. I was lucky to get it done over the phone. You may have to go over there to show proof of ownership.
