Default New brake pad problem

I recently tried to replace the pads and rotors on my wifes 1999 A6 and ran into a problem. The new pads I bought did not come with the abs( I think it is abs. the wire from the pad)connection? can i just change them and not hook up the wire? Thanks for any help

The wire and connector is for a pad wear sensor, not ABS. Take the connector and wire off the old pad, connect the loose ends together and plug it into the car side of the connector. That will keep your brake pad warning from coming on.

+1. it's not anything major, it'll just keep that damn annoying dinger from popping up saying the pads are worn when they're not.
