Is the stock Ko3's in the 2.7t engine that exact same turbo thats on the 1.8t A4 engine? Are the 2.7t turbos "side specific", like a designated left or right turbo? I guess i just never knew... thanks!

here is the answer

the ko3 on the 2.7 is actully one of the smallest kkk turbos there are

the turbos are side spcific. I don't have it committed to memory but I think the passenger side can be swapt with a 99 1.8 passat or a4 turbo. but the driver side has a neck that is 7in long that sweeps and turns to meet with the ic piping.

as a side note the 2 biggest ko4 turbos are in the rs6 and the tt 225. when people make the hybrid turbos they install thoes 2 wheels.

Well how can I get a hold of a rs6 turbo and tt 225 turbo for my car? That is like a stage 3 setup right? Can I just put the larger turbos in without upgrading anything else until I can afford to get other upgrades?

 

I think you would need to change out the computer or have it re programed to work right.
And you would probally want to do some upgrades to the FMIC and pipes, down pipe.....

you can't directly install the tt or rs6 turbo it self. you take out the comp wheel and install it in a ko4 for the s4. it is a little more complacated than that but that is the idea.

if you have no other mods to the car you really should concider a chip. imho there is only on chip to buy and one place o get it. get the GIAC treaker file from vast. the chip will work with both ko3 and ko4 turbos. any other place you will have to upgrade your chip as you upgrade your turbos. It has proven it self to be the fastest file out for the 2.7t with great drivability.

second you should get piggie dp's they will help your turbos live longer while helping you make more power out of the chip.

other than that get a dts from awe so you don't tare up your drive train. check your dv's prussure test the car and make sure you have a good timing belt and water pump and you are well on your way
