Ok, where can I get one of the repair manuals for cheaper than the $125 price of admission? That seems a little steep to me as Im coming from domestics and using Haynes manuals but again, new to the euro world. Computer stuff isnt a problem, Im in IT so I know my way around them. I love working on cars and changing stuff so im sure changing the TB isnt a problem, but time is. M-F 8-5 with a new baby is not conducive to taking a weekend to pull the frontend off my car. lol
I didnt pay very much at all. 4k out the door which, I think is good (could be wrong), especially considering the Volvo's I was looking at were going for 5-6k with 110k-120k miles. I actually like how the Audi is smaller but has more room. I was never one for bigger cars.

You paid a bit on the high side but not as much as some.
as for the manual -- you can probably find it for around $100 from one of the parts guys but an Haynes and Audi are in different worlds. If $100 for a manual concerns you, wait until you see the list price for parts, your going to faint.
Force Five sometimes has used manuals and check Ebay, but make shure it is a Bentley and don't fall for the junk - your wasting your money.
Ebay is Ok for the VAGCom cable.
Have you considered getting a backup vehicle?

Ehh, Im in for a surprise I guess. This is my backup vehicle. I got it to get out of my $255/mo car payment and $300/mo insurance payment on the mustang. Now I just pay $200/mo for car and around $100/mo for insurance.
My girlfriend does have another car but she is a little pissy when I need to use it because mine doesnt work. Hence getting rid of the 160k mile mustang. I replaced the clutch, clutch cable, left rear brake caliper, and the rings were starting to go. All within about 3 months of each other.
Facepalm, Im am starting to feel a little silly but Ill make it all work out.

I think 4k is just fine, it really depends on what part of the country you live in. I came from the Volvo world of cars to Audi, I loved my '93 Volvo 850 with 334k US miles on it. But it was old and tired and needed to go. If only the newer Volvos had the same build quality as the older ones. Oh well, I still love my A6.
