Default RE: New purchase: 2.7T or 4.2?

I bought a CPO '01 A6 2.7T about 9 months ago. Spent a lot of time finding this exact car. Had to leave it at the dealer for some work and they gave me the larger engine non-turbo A6 as a loaner. If I has it to choose again I would strongly consider the non-turbo. Overall, the engine seemed much smoother to me. The absence of turbo lag is also a plus. The only thing that might hold me back is the weak gas mileage on the bigger engine. In the end, the 2.7T is no consolation prize and you will probably be happy whichever you get.

I used it to investigate into my new purchase, a 2000 Audi A6 2.7T quattro. Just bought it yesterday in fact! The features and specs designate the 2.7T quicker in the acceleration (0-60) than the 4.2. For the 2000 year the numbers are:
2.7T 5.29 sec
4.2 6.53 sec
Hope this helps in the decision making process!
thats wrong, 0-60 for the 2.7t in 2000 is 6 flat with a manual and 6.6 with tip
6.7 sec 0-60 gor the 4.2
use the audi model search, heres the link
audi model search through audi of america

I have a 2001 A6 4.2 Quattro and I love it. I like the feeling of a more powerful engine. I like the way it feels. I love my car. Just wish I had a newer one. The 05's are sweet.
