there is a strang noise that happens from the engine compartment in our 2.7t. it only happens when the steering wheel is turned all the way to the left or right, and the noise is kind of a high pitched whining, is this normal or not?

 

check the power steering fluid might be low

 

check the steering fluid. make sure its not to low

 

it was topped off at the dealer a few days ago, but still makes the noise..is it because the car is just warming up...its only noticed when we back out of the garage and and have to turn the car around in the driveway

 

Mine does the same thing...I don't know the technical reason...so this may not help...but most of the cars that I have do that when I turn the steering wheel all the way to one side to the point where the steering wheel can't go any further. I think its typical...my 96 LR discovery did it, my wife's ES300 does the same thing.

 

It's normal for just about car to make noises at full lock, if you back it off 1/16 in, it wills top making the noise.
