noise coming from dash
hello. i just bought my first audi and i love it. it's a 1998 A6 2.8.
it's not a daily driver and i was out of town for a long time - few months - and when i came back the battery was dead. charged the battery - did not boost the car - and a few weird things started happening.
first, there's a noise coming from the cabin controls that sounds like a soft clicking of a fan. i press on the panel between the dual zone climate control and it stops, and it's also not clicking upon first start up.
second, some of the displays (radio station, temp., etc.)fluctuate - sometimes lines appear on the red-lit read out.
not sure what to do. i'm fairly mechanical and i'd like to know if this something anyone's heard of, if i can fix myself, or if it's a shop bill.
any help would be greatly welcomed!
thx.

RE: noise coming from dash
I too just bought my car.Drove it home, that night it had a dead battery. Same sounds and lights as you describe.
The battery was showing 12 volts but low cranking amps. Bought a new battery and no more problems. Everything's as it should be, I didn't even have to use the code on the stereo.
Good luck with you're new wheels.
