I just recently got my oil changed in my 01 A6 2.7T but my sensor in my car still tells me that I need oil. I called Audi and they said you ahve to bring it in in order to reset the indicator, is this true? Or is there a simplier way to do this without driving 1 hour to an Audi dealership.

RE: Oil change indicator...
Definitely a simpler way to do it. They must have just forgot to reset it when they had done the oil change.
I have a thread exactly like this in the A6 forum and what worked for me was looking at the manual and it gave step by step instructions for resetting both the INSP and OIL service alerts.

It is in the display section of the manual. The procedure for my 1999 A6 2.8 was hold down the trip odometer button and then start the car while holding it down. After that it will flash the OIL warning and to reset pull OUT the clock set button. Problem solved in my case.

Would anyone else know? I tried your suggestion and it didn't reset my oil indicator.

It may be different for your model or i've described the gist but missed a step.

Does your manual mention anything about it?

If you'd like, I can dig out my manual and post the direct quote...

I have a 00 and mine says to hold down the button next to the clock and then turn the ignition on, continue to hold the button down until it says service, then release the button and press it one more time. Thats it.

Its definitely in your manual..Mine is reset the same way as dscribed above. Call the dealer and ask. If they want to charge you or make you drive infor a stupid 30 seconds of time then call an Indy and ask...
