oil sensor problem?
Hi, new to forum...'02 a6 avant 3.0 has yellow oil sensor light on and oil temp gauge is at zero. could these be related? does sensor light go on if gauge is malfunctioning?...which sensor sends oil temp info to gauge?
Both readings come from the oil level sensor on the bottom of the oil pan. Check the wiring at the sensor. If everything visually checks out, replace the sensor. Also use the dipstick. Make sure you actually have oil before you run the car any more.
thanks, Dank! (and thought that was the problem, but now not so sure...I learn that the oil sensor from ecs does not send temp according to them: "Yes it does fit, the 3.0 is the same motor in the avant, and the sedan. It does not send temperature to the gauge, it is a oil level sensor only." Is ECS wrong here, or are we?
found the part...THANKS ALL...Sender, Oil Temperature ES#4833...from ecs tuning...14 bucks,...I'm told there are two and located on a pipe close to cylinders on each side of engine
