Oxygen Sensor Issues

Oxygen Sensor Issues
So this past week I have been dealing with this stupid B2S2 Oxygen sensor. First no one had it in stock. Then I get it and the old one will not come out. Finally got it out. Now onto the issue of the new one.
I have read many write ups of o2 replacements for the 2.7T as this is the first time I have had to do a o2 sensor. Every one of them said there would be around 4 zipties attached the wire to the tranny routing it up to the motor. After pulling my old one out and trying to get the wiring out it is not just in ziplocks, it is completely enclosed with 4 other cables coming from the spot where the harnesses go. I figured oh well I will just route it down using the zipties. Now I am approx 4 inches too short to connect everything.
Maybe I am doing something wrong but I would love some advice as to the correct way to route the wiring down so I can get this emissions crap over with. I do know that I have the correct o2 sensor. It is the OE fit Bosch replacement. Not the universal make your own.
I know one possible solution is to get to splicing and I want to avoid this at all costs.
Thanks in advance for the help!

If your new one has the same wire length as the OE, then routing it the same way as the old one shouldn't be a problem.
How the heck you come up short if it is the same length as the OE one? Did you compare and measure side-by-side both wires?
In any event, if the old routing doesn't work, just route the sensor's wire on its own
and secure it along the way in one, or max two places.
I would assume you're interested in functionality (pass the test?), and not in "below the car" aestethics.
