Oxygen Sensors on '02 A6 2.7t
Hello all:
I recently purchased a 2002 Audi A6 2.7t with 107,000 on it. Made an appointment to bring in the vehicle to have the TB changed; the day before the appt the "check engine" light came on. I had the mechanic run a diagnostic check on it; said that 2 Oxygen sensors were "bad". He indicated that it would cost me app. $500.00 to fix.......when I did some research, this seems to be very high!!!
Does this price seem high??? Is this something that I can do myself?????
Thanks in advance for the info!!!

Bummer, O2's not cheap but we can help with the cost of parts. Did they tell you which sensors are bad? The rears are pretty easy to do yourself but the fronts can be a bugger. There is a special tool that makes removing the fronts a bit easier but it pretty much takes standing on your head--just kidding--everything is possible.
Good Luck

Get the exact codes and messages. If you see the word "intermittant", keep driving. You may have gotten some bad gas as the colder weather moves in (I did) and the CEL will go away after you run out the bad gas.
Otherwise, It ain't cheap nor easy to replace the O2 sensors.
