Default P0116 on 1996

Hello,

I'm getting a CTS failure code of PO116 on a 1996 Audi A6 Quattro. I am
ready to replace it but need some links on where I can buy one.

I purchased one last year for my 2001 Jetta. I bought the green one. I'm
seeing sites that show a green one and a different looking one for
use my by car. The different looking one seems to be threaded.

1. What is the correct part and where can I get it?
2. Where is this part located in the engine compartment?

Replacing in the VW took about 10 minutes. It was a little tight
but I was able to do it.

Thanks,
Chris

The temp gauge on the A6 reads almost 0. I believe that the thermostat may be bad
causing the faulting reading of the ECT sensor. Possibly should I replace thermostat first then ECT if needed?

Most likely the sensor not the thermostat. You could check it by blocking the air to the radiator and seeing if the temp goes up. If it does it is not the sensor and you'll need to plan for a TB, waterpump, tensioner, etc. change when you do the thermostat.

Default I'll try sensor first

I'll replace the sensor first.

I do not believe the "green" sensor is the correct part for a 96 A6 Quattro.
Can you tell me what is? Can you tell me where to locate the sensor in the
engine compartment so I can replace it?

Thanks,
Chris
