P1606?
now here's my question. i notice rubbing when i turn my wheel all the way and drive. also, the light only comes on after i've made some sort of turn and seems to go away when driving straight. Is it possible that there is not enough offset and the tire is rubbing causing it to turn slower than the rest and therefore throwing an error code because of different tire speed?
the only code i got was the p1606. unfortunately i don't have a audi specific diag machine to give me a more specific code.
light does not come on when i first start the car. Only comes on after i have been driving. then the light will come on but it will go away when i get on the highway.

i haven't been using the car for offroad by any means. It is strictly road driving. for heaven's sake - i just spent 1600 on 18" rims. the last thing i want to do is put a scratch on them. They're quite shiny
i dont see why not a generic obd2 reader wont do the job.
trust me... i'm a licence mechanic i dont whopp out the big guns untill i have to. i use a hand held mac tools scaner for quick diagnostics and servicing unless i go in for a closer look. the VAG toold dont have anyhting special besides the "factory shortcuts" to a certain modes for relearn and adaptations which can be donr if your knowlegeable enough with the proper tool it can be done.
off the top of my head i would grab a multimemeter and would make sure the the ABS module has a good ground, clean power and if acess to a scope would be nice to check the integrity of sensors and wiring by backprobing at the ABS control unit. if everything ok then move on to replacing the ABS control module.
heh...
my car before i bought it went to 7 ot 8 shops and 40% said that the car needs a transmission and the other 60% said that it was in dire need of a tune up...
the problem ???
2 bad fuel injectors
figgure that one out how the techs came up with the first 2 diagnostics !!!
