My pass door window is driving me crazy!!! If I send it all way down it won't go back up all way!!! It starts up and then halfway it stops and goes back down! I tried to help it along by holding button up and pushing on glass but as soon as I let go it goes back down again!! I finally got it up by pushing pulling on button and glass in sporadic ways and it is now up. I am definitley not going to put in down again until I can find out what to look for to fix it. Anybody have any ideas to help me out?

 

you need to reset its memory to do that press and hold the button till it goes all the way down and the same for all the way up

 

If resetting the memory doesn't work, it's probably a broken window guide. Common problem with these cars. Fortunately, it's a pretty easy and inexpensive DIY project.

Thanks for the info and link to pics. I'm on 24hr oxygen so doing it myself is out, however I copied your pics and next week I will take them to visit the local independant VW/Audi repair shop.

When I hold the button down all the way till window bottoms and try holding the button up for window to go up it still stops half way and goes back down. So maybe the shop guy can help me. I will visit them next week. Been gonna go there and get aquinted for a while now. They have been in business for about 35yrs and are in same building as a Brew Pub (used to be hardware store).
I just got this car from my Son who is in Indonesia working for State Dept. it is a 1999. He gave it to me and siad "drive it or sell it whatever you want to do it's yours. Has 59,560 miles, is an Avant Quattro. Nice driving car, I like it a lot,but I'm afraid of that timming belt thing. ritam

 

Sounds like a nice vehicle. You'll appreciate the quattro drive around Detroit this winter. I wouldn't worry about the timing belt until around 80k miles.
