PCV Breather clogged Blown seals whats next?
From Audiworld.com
""I stop by the dealer today, and see a 2.7t in the air to replace a rear main seal (stay with me here)
I joke that they might as well do the cam/valve cover gaskets while they are at it.
"no need for that" says the tech "we know why they leak"
"The breather pump valve that sits under the Y-Pipe gets clogged, which increases the crankase breather pressure to the point that it blows out the seals.
"No $hit" I say..
yup - we are starting to check them on every older car....
So - who volenteers to pull this little beauty out and see if it is cloggen on thier older car??
Might save you big $$$!!""
He is referring to the PCV "Y" breather valve.
Later posts say that you'll know the seals are blown if you smell a burning scent.
Assuming I've blown mine ( the smell is there, and I knew it was clogged beyond repair but forgot to change it).. what's next for my Audi?
Can I just replace it and move on? Or do I need to replace my cam / valve seals?
If so I'm just going to sell the car.

2.7 has "spyder pipe" for ventilation.
(The Y pipe is on 1.8t, there is quite confusion between Bentley, ElzaWin and Etka)
Gets very brittle. Hard to get it off intact.
Just replace it to be on the safe side.
Pay attention to the application as there are 3 types, climate specific.

Here is one for the 2.8 suction pump replacement.

You can actually take out the suction pump and clean it with a carb cleaning spray too. Anyways, once your valve covers are leaking, I doubt that it will stop leaking after replacing the suction pump. But who knows... Try it. It never hurts.
