plese help i need new cats!!!
Its time to change my cats on my 1999 2.8 and i just wanted to ask if anyone has use UNIVERSAL cats to replace the stock ones? Did they work? Did your check engine light came off? and who did you get them from?

New Cats??? Try the local animal shelter. I hear that they always have a few to give away. If you get the black ones you'll be ready fro Halloween.
Or you could try Chris Semple at Force Five in Concord NH 603-223-6700. I would stay away from universal cats.
As for the CEL - It depends upon the reason the cel is on. If it is an O2 sensor and you change the cats then the cel will come back onafter you clear the codes.

I would try the universal cats if they are available... especially if your only drivingthedarned car, and not modding it.
find yourself a muffler shop... those shady bastards can putsomething together.Trust me... there's a few in Chicago that work miracles...

i'm running universal magnaflow cats with no problem, maybe had 1 cel in 2+ years..
however i did replace one afterward, and pretty much need to replace it again but that could be related to my bad o2 sensors that i replaced recently
