I have a 2001 2.7t w 120k
recently i was driving and noticed when turning the steering got super tight all a sudden
and the battery icon on the dash popped on... this happened after about 10min of driving when car got warm.
also started hearing a squealing noise from belts...

did some reseach online and found a broken serp belt would cause that problem however belt is still on my vehicle.
maybe its slipping? not sure.. i topped off the power steering fluid and still no improvement...so I'm thinking its a leak, bad pump,or
steering rack?? this problem jus occurred suddenly...never heard any groaning noises or anything coming from pump...and no prior steering issues far
as tightness or anything... there also seems to be a odor of something burning inside car...like oil or maybe leaking fluid perhaps?
anyone else experience this or have any ideas or tips as to repair...?

 

Was driving & then the steering got real tight & had a fluid smell & batter light is now on. Did you get any help?

 

took my car to a mechanic whats happening with mines is i have a really bad oil leak...so when i drive the oil is blowing onto the serpentine belt causing slippage thus
messing with the power steering
