Default Power Window Regulator

My driver side rear window regulator does not work like it should. It goes down find, the problem is when it comes up. I had it checked, basically around $500 (part and labor). Is the regulator difficult to install or will I have to take it somewhere to get it fixed?

If you don't know what you're doing you will have a hell of a time lining up the window carrier back up to sit flush on the body, so you don't get wind leaks. I would have a shop do the regulator for you.

Lining up thewindow carrieris a piece of cake. Just mark around the bolt holes with whiteout before you remove them. Then just reinstall them in the same place. As long as you install the shims in the place where they came from, everything will line up perfectly.

Ok, thanks, I'm gonna just take it somewhere, I'm not feeling that lining the windows business.

I also remembered something else. The regulaor is rivited in place. So youll have to cut or drill out the old rivits and buy, borrow, steal a rivit gun to install the new rivits.

Are you sure it's the reguilator and not just the platic window guides? They are a common problem and an easy, cheap DIY job.

The plastic guides are only for the front window regulators.
