Default "PRNDS" Flashing on Dash, new TCM Needed??

Hello All,

I have been searching the forums for the answer to this problem but haven't found a solid answer just lots of talk I think. My 2004 Audi A6 has the "PRNDS" flashing on the dash. It was coming on randomly but yesterday my reserve failed to engage, I had to restart the car to get it to engage. When I got home and tried to back into my spot I noticed that my rear reserve white lights were going on and off. From what I have read in the forums is my Transmission Control Module faulty or is it something else. I would rather not pay a fortune to take it to a mechanic and have them replace everything when it could be a smaller problem of just replacing the TCM with a used identical unit. Also if this is the problem where is the location of this module. Thanks for your help.

The TCM is under passenger carpet. If you could find someone with a VAG you could get an idea. Take a look at the TCM and see its condition. That's all anybody can tell you until you scan it.

Thanks for the info. I lifted my carpet and didn't find the TCM at all. I have 2004 Audi A6 with tiptronics and from what I read it was suppose to be on the ground under the carpet in a box?

Follow those wires, there should be a black box. Your pictures show where it should be, keep peeling back carpet towards seat. Is your a6 still a c5? The c5 runs up to 04 but halfway through the body was changed. Don't give up its down there,

Default Still have found nothing

Hey Guys,

Been out of town for a little bit and now I am back to getting this taken care off. I have still not located the TCM. It wasn't underneath the carpet like I keep hearing. Could it be under the seat and I have to remove it? What is the computer that is on the right side of the engine that I have shown in the picture?
