problem with my 2.8, any help much appreciated
Hey guys, as you can tell I'm new to the forums but have been reading them for a while now....I've had my audi for apporx 4 1/2 years now....just decided to bear down and replace what needs to be replaced. I'm having a couple issues and id figure id ask someone who knows more about these cars than I do....
I have a check engine code for sec air injection system insufficient air flow.....I just replaced all vaccuum lines and breather hoses.....I'm assuming its something to do with my passenger side egr valve because my old sec air pump had a decent amount of water built up in it causing it to fail.....I've heard when the egrs clog or start to go they usually cause a build up of water into the air pump.....
I also have a small oil leak on the back of the engine behind the head.....its too far down to reach behind the firewall because a limited space......my mechanic told me its a small rubber seal that seems to have a minor leak, which actually causes the leak to fall onto my cat convertor and burn off causing my car to smell like burnt oil.....
One last thing, id like to figure out why my car seems to flutter around 1500 rpm while accelerating slighty......it pretty much happens in 2nd 3rd and 4th gear in the automatic tranny.......sometimes when I press the gas slightly it will drop about 500 rpms then pick back up......
Any help would be so much appreciated, I've already cleaned the mass air flow sensor, replaced all vaccuum lines.....fixed my evap emission code which was incorrect flow also.....just not sure what else could be the issue.....thanks

The oil leak is likely a half-moon seal which requires the cam chain tensioner to be lifted some in order to replace. It's an inexpensive part but a shop will hurt you with labor. The insufficient airflow code may well be a dead SAP. Not a terrible job but the front of the car has to be opened up to access it and change it. As for the flutter, try unhooking the battery for an hour, then hook it back up, turn on the key (but don't start the engine) and let the car sit for 5 minutes. This will realign the throttle position sensor. This has fixed issues like that in the past.
If you want to talk about having this stuff done and are OK with a road trip, shoot me a PM with your number and I can likely save you a lot of the labor costs. I also have an SAP in my garage that is available.

I just replaced my secondary air pump the other day....the old 1 had busted rivets on the pump so it was whistling loud during startup.....the check engine light came on after when I was at a complete start pretty much at warm temperature, the pump kicked on and then the check engine light right after the pump shut off, this is why I'm assuming its a bad egr valve, because my old pump had water in it.....also I think this is related to the flutter while accelerating issue, either that or a carbon build up in the throttle body.....and the oil leak I put some engine oil seal ring stuff in there to try and help seal the worn seals in the engine maybe that will stop the leak because it just started a week ago or so......any ideas about the egr or throttle body cleanup? I figure I can start there
