Default Problems with A6?

I am going to be purchasing a new all wheel drive A6 or a M35, or a Acura RL or a GS300. I read in consumers reports about all the problems with the A6. I had a 04 Touareg and it was nothing but problems! I l ike the A6 alot except I do not want to buy problems like I did with the VW. I would appreciate any comments! Thank you!!!

I looked at the same 4 cars and picked the A6 4.2. I have owned it for about 14 months and love the car. It has been in the shop twice. Once for an air bag light and a second time because the MMI module (radio, nav, cd) went bad. Both times I got a loaner. I will warn you that it took the dealer about a week both times to fix the car. I would buy the car again.

Thank you for reply Kevin, As far as you know are there any particular problems that seem inherent in the car?? Or is it some have this problem and others something else?? My nearest dealer will be about 325 miles away.

I particpate in the Audi A6 forums on this forum as well as Audiworld.com and Edmunds.com and the 4.2 sems to be a relatively trouble free car. There have been some complaints about defective starter buttons, mine has been fine. So far, I would certainly buy the car again.

I have a 2001 Audi 4.2 A6 and I love it alot. I have owned it for about 3 months and its a fun car to drive. I have had 2 problems so far but nothing big and it was covered under the warranty. It was the MAF sensor and the temperature sensor. Took only 2 hours at the dealer to fix. Overall I'm very satisfied with the car and have no regrets. I would buy it again.
