Default proper size exhaust

Kk, so... I wanna do an exhaust on the A6, here my question, I can spend almost 1000 $ less getting the exhaust made, then to buy a new kit... But, from the DPs, should I go 3", 2", 2.5"??? Anyone know what the spec are on the other performance exhaust systems? I was also thinking emoving the resanator, and putting high flow cats.

I think you have to do some mods if you go bigger than 2.5". Correct me if I am wrong.

I would do 2.5" after dps and then maybe go to 3 after the cats. Or just stick with 2.5". 3" is rather large and may not be as beneficial

Anyone else have any suggestions? I might go with 2.5 but if the 3inch is more beneficial, then I might do that, get rid of the cats and the resanator, and throw some magnaflows on it. Or keep the cats so its actually legal, and throw on highflows. I really want the sound, and some better performance for minimal cost.

I'm in the process of creating my own custom CAI so I don't have to spend 300$ on one. Ordering my HIDs this coming Friday. Now all I have to worry about is the exhaust, and eventually upgrading to the ko4 s4/rs4 turbo setup (is that right?), convert the intercoolers to the s4/rs4 setup, chip it, and call it a day (or 10 years cause that's how long its going to take me to come up with the money)
