hello everyone, i'm new to audi's and am going to purchase one very soon as soon as i find one that i want, but i'm curious as to what are the pros and cons between the a4 and the a6. i definitely plan on going with the quattro, and at least a 1999.5, but are there any specific problems that either car is prone to? especially major things like transmission and engine problems? the one i end up getting will probably have around 100k miles on it, so what can i expect to have to replace and/or fix soon? thanks a lot for all your anticipated help.

Hey, I have 2001 A6 2.7t with about 130000 miles on it, and it runs like a dream. Had it since 2001 and never had any major problems with the engine or transmission. However, I'm not really sure about the A4, I'm sure you can find out information somewhere on the forum.

 

Good Luck with your decision... We have both and A4(1.8T) and A6(4.2) great gas mileage on the A4 great car for one-two people.Back seat is great if you are under the age of 12 or shorter then5 feet. 5inches...

A4...PROS & CONS... awesome mileage, lowercost to purchasethen A6., funto drive, quick, sharp car, small interior, not as smooth/luxury drivingas A6, did I say fun to drive,

A6... PROS & CONS... back seats arelarge and great car for 4 adults, drives smoother then A4, moreof a roadtripcar (larger). better ride quality, exhaust sound UHHHHHH, seats more comfortable, just my .02c


If I go on a trip JUST ME (one person) I like the A4 for mileage, (just cheap I guess) If you are going out to the movie or dinner with friends... you have got to have the A6.
