Default Rough downshifting

I am noticeing some rough downshifting when I slow to to come to a complete stop. What would I do to stop this problem? Should I go and get some transmission fluid, or get my transmission flushed?

I just took my 01 A6 4.2 in for service and one of my complaints was similiar to yours. between 1st and 2nd gears, it seemed liked the trans was fishing for a gear. it would kick really hard sometimes when it found the gear but mostly itwas how rough it would get into first sometimes, mainly when the car was going slow. I just found out today that its called a valve body for the trans. Im not really sure what it is or its purpose but thats what was causing the shift problems or more precisely the rough shifts in low gear. Hope this helps...

Did you get an estimate on how much it is going to cost? I will make sure I bring that up what I go tomorrow.
