Unhappy puddle of windshiled fluid under my passanger headlight

this has been a random issue for me
this started during the summer and it comes n goes
i will have to fill my windshield washer fluid and i have a puddle under my passanger headlight so i assume the nozzle that pops up has a leak somewhere in the lines before it
is this a common issue anyone had it before, and do i take the headlight out and mess with the fickle lines
i thought that during the winter the lines would contract bcus of the cold and not have and that seems to be the case to some extent since i have had to barely fill it up compared to the constant lose i had during the summer
but im just wondering who else has had this and what can be done before i start trying to tear into this
thanks

Very common indeed. Mine was leaking from a T behind the bumper, but I did not fix it. The body shop that fixed my car after the accident replaced all the hoses.

Ive seen similar leaks from the same T fitting. Your going to have to take a few things apart - wheel well cover, skid plate, or most likely the bumber - to see exactly whats going on.

A couple years ago I had repeated leaking of the windshield washer fluid in my A6. I had the hoses and fittings replaced once (about $150). The second time I just had them capped off up near the pump. Now my duahgter's A4 is having the same problem -- will be just capping those off too. The headlight washers are not a high need item and they dump too much fluid anyway.

I agree with ppgoal. I ended up putting a bolt in the line to the headlight washers because they are fluid hogs and prone to leaks.

but you might consider getting your Audi a diaper - they make bras so why not a diaper?

Is there a fuse just for the headlight washer? It might be easier to just pull the fuse if that is the case.

I beleive that it is a mechanical action that depends upon pressure in the line.

These freeking things work when new but leak when they get old ... The fittings are low so turning off or discionnecting the power to the pump may stop some of the leaks but sooner or later the fluid will begin to leak again unless you start replacing things..

I personally love my headlight washers. Here in MN they use a lot of salt on the roads and I drive 90% hwy. It is dark on my way home and having freshly washed headlights on demand is fantastic. I never knew how quickly your viability drops as your headlights get dirtier and dirtier. When mine start to leak again, I will just replace the hoses and lines. I do wish they didn't use so much fluid, but honestly, the fluid is dirt cheap. I use about 2 gallons a month in the winter.
