Default Random Electrical Junk

I remember reading a while back about some nice fixes for things like a scrambled message center, and other random electronic failures throughout the car. Does anyone remember those threads? I'm interested in taking the dash apart this weekend and getting my message center un-scrambled (something about re-soldering some faulty connections).

Also, is there a way to read trouble codes out when my check engine light is on, without paying the $130 for a diagnostic? Most cars have some kind of clip you can jumper some connection in and it'll make the light flash in certain sequences... any thoughts?

Thanks!

Know nothing about the message center, but Autozone will check your codes for free. I know what you are talking about when you say flash out the codes. Our BMW does it and so did my old Volvo. But the Audi as far as I know does not.
