Default range radio behavier,

Hi guys, this is an interesting one for you. I have a 2000 A6 2.7t with a symphony radio. I have noticed that recently when I press the scan button, the seek arrows or press the right wheel the radio will just keep searching without finding anything. however when I manualy tune the radio I find an abundence of stations. I dont know if the two are conected but I recently installed a dice Ipod kit, could this be affecting things?

thanks for your help
James

some more information

I recently installed a dice Ipod kit into my 2000 2.7t which meant removing the Radio. When I did the install everything worked ok but recently when you press the Tune wheel, scan or seek button's the radio just searches and searches. The problem seems to be an intermittent one so I think it could be down to a connection. Also I have no problem with tuning the radio manually so reception is not a problem; it is just the auto tuning that is the problem.

The other day I borrowed some radio keys and attempted to remove the radio. They were the wrong kind and would not remove the radio. however when I attempted to remove the radio pulling on it, it started to work again, but this fix was only temporary.

Any Ideas what could cause this problem?

Many thanks
James

not sure what you are talking about there Justin.

The other thing that I have noted about this problem is that it is affected by temperature. If it is hot the problem is worse. My local dealer tells me that there are several amps, boosters and diversity unites in the car. Does anyone know the location of these units?

Thanks
James

i would say its a bad connection somewhere. try completely taking out the ipod kit and see how the radio reacts.
