I commute 20 miles each way at 75-80mph and on my days off I do a fair bit of city driving. . .

I love to drive my car and I think I enjoy it to much because with 2.7T I rarely see a tank average over 21.. .. Think right now I have 1k on the trip and 20.2 on the mpg..

and I gave up on thinking any mods will help my gas millage .. they only make me more lead-footed

 

Bought a demo model from the dealership- 2007 A6 3.2L with 12K miles. Pretty much broken in at this point. I tracked the mileage for the next 3K miles and came up with 18 MPG. This is primarily city driving in a not-so-congested city (but with a lot of needless stop lights!) and some highway miles thrown in, probably 2/3 city driving. I've seen upto 26 MPG when driving exclusively on the highway.
BTW, I did the first 3K miles on premium, then looked closer in the manual and saw that premium is recommended but not required. Since then I've been using the mid-level (89 octane) gas and haven't noticed any drop-off in performance or behavior, although I haven't tracked the mileage since then.

 

25-28 on the highway, at moderate speeds...under 75. I recently went on a 30 mile trip, about 85% highway, drove 60 on the highway, got 29.6! I was very proud, lol. I have a 3 mile comute to school everyday. In the summer, it hangs about 20. Winter, about 17 or 18. I drive easy on the highway, but I have a lead foot around town, exhaust does that to you Im impressed with stampys #s, thats darn good for a v8, although we can get almost 21 on the highway out of our touareg 4.2. I drove a S4 avant (2.7) and it got 32 on a strictly highway trip. I think the turbos do help if you are not in the boost. And the one down fall to Quattro is the added drag when you are in stoplights, kills mpgs, but worth every penny in the slush! My car gets the same as my neighbors 03 taurus, and its a FWD 3.0 DOHC car. Mines a 2.8Q, and it makes more hp BTW... Go Audi!

 

I get around 17mpg in the city with my '99 2.8Q, and stock it makes as much horsepower as my friends 02 Mustang 3.8!!

I've been averaging 22mpg which is mostly highway but the little bit of city i have is crazy hilly....though now that i mention it even the highway is really hilly :-/

 

Going from premium to 89 octance is not worth it IMO, its usually only 10 cents different a gallon.
