rear fog light touble?
I believe that one of my rear fog lights is out (the right side) I heard that the right side is supposed to be out on some models. my car is a 2000 A6 2.7T 6sp manual. if anyone knows about these rear fogs. help would be great.

RE: rear fog light touble?
The A6 has only one functioning rear fog light, left side in North America and right side in Europe. There is an article in the AudiWorld Forums on adding a right side bulb and socket : http://www.audiworld.com/tech/ext20.shtml

RE: rear fog light touble?
A rear fog light is very little about looks and very much about safety and function.
A single rear light improves rearward visibility without throwing too much light backwards. A single light on one side also makes it easier to see where you should be headed if you want to pass the car (left for us, right for our Limey and Ozzie friends). Functionally, it's a much better way to impliment the safety feature this a rear fog is meant to be.
Audi moved to dual, rear fogs only after bowing to pressure from the American market which was not familiar with the seemingly odd, single-light arrangement which had seen widespread use in Europe for many years.
You can mod your single rear to run both sides, but if you do... PLEASE remember that those things should only go on when it's reallly foggy. Otherwise, they're a pain in the neck for the guy behind you.
Peace.
