Default rear view mirror

ok, so in chicago, its been cold for the winter(obviously), and one day it suddenly changed
and became around 65degrees. that day, i went into my car and went to adjust my rear view mirror.
when i reached up and grabed my mirror it instantly came off the window and fell completely off the glass.
now, my car is a 02 2.7T. i was pretty disapointed. i never heard of a thing like this...
is this common?
anywho, the kicker is, i went to the dealer and they said the warranty doesnt cover it cuz it was
an appearance item... so then they offered to glue it back.... for 90 dollars...
this point. i was pretty angry cuz they were gonna charge me for an hours worth of labor charge.
come on... to glue on the damn thing?? i know i might sound cheap for not paying 90bucks.
but i dont think i should have to pay 90 dollars for someone to glue it on...

has anyone else had this happen to their audi? if so, what did you do?

Never happened to my Audi but to other cars. I fixed them myself with a special kit from any autoparts store for less than $10. Takes about 5 minutes.

Happened to me. Take your car to a glass/windshield repairshop. They put it back on for me for 5 bucks.
