Anyone have a problem where after you signal and then shut the blinker off you still hear the blinker clicking in the dash somewhere? Does any one know what that is? Is there a way to fix it yourself or or is it best to take it to the dealership? Thanks.

 

Probably the hazard relay going bad. Very common problem, don't know if your are experiencing the symptoms though.

Know any sites that show you how to replace the switch yourself because audi is charging $350 to fix the problem?

 

Buy a new "Hazard Switch" for a mere $22 http://www.genuineaudiparts.com/. Carefully pry off the woodgrain panel surrounding the hazard flasher switch (I used a paper clip and bent the end 1/4" over to hook behind the panel, just push it in the gap, turn it 90 degrees and pull, works great!), push in the tabs on the old switch & pull it out, disconnect the plug on the back of the switch. Should take 10 minutes (45 minutes with a beer break!)

 

I was JUST about to post something regarding what I think is the same thing. After I disengage the turn signal, a strange "crackling" noise comes from the dash. Could this be the same problem, and will the posted fix-actions make this annoying problem go away?

i had the same problem with my passat, but it turned out to be the stalk... solly, did switching the hazard work?

 

Haven't tried it yet . I am going to mess around with it today and see. I'll let you know if you haven't already tried it yourself. 3/1/08.
