Replace Airbags After 14 Years

Replace Airbags After 14 Years
The other day I noticed a small warning sticker on the driver side door frame indicating that the airbags should be replaced after 14 years. This would be a fairly expensive job and would likely cost more than the car would be worth at the time.
1. Has anyone actually done this? This would most likely be for 1997 and earlier models.
2. I would be curious as to what the auto insurance companies would pay or not pay for injuries if the airbags were not replaced per the warning. This is assuming the airbags did not deploy in the event of an accident.

I read the same thing a few months ago in my owner's manual. I suspect it would not be as expensive as having them go off and blow off the dashboard, but it still would not be cheap. I don't plan on doing it. I figure it's in the manual so Audi can weasel out of any potential lawsuits. BTW, my daughter drove her 1995 Buick Lesabre into a brick wall two summers ago and the airbags worked fine.
