Default replacing EGR valvue

My local Audi dealer wants $1000 to replace the EGR valvue on my 1997 Audi A6 Quattro. I think that's a bit out of line. Can someone please walk me through the process of replacing the part and cleaning out the EGR passageway in the intake manifold so that I can get this fixed myself?

Thanks!
Paula

Do a search in Audiworld. there is a great write up there on how to clean out the egr valve, and throtle body.
it is a crazy expensive part like $300.

Thanks! I just did that and they had a good diagram, too. I'll let you know how it goes.
