Replacing a ECU
Hi All,
My car keeps blowing the ECU fuse every 500 miles or so and I can't fix it. No errors reported, except that the ECU no longer has power.
I've found a place that can sell me an 'Engine Control Unit' for about a $100 new, so I’m really tempted to buy it, just to rule it out fom the fuse blowing.
What would I need to do to install it?
- Physically I can remove the unit and plug the new one in
- I'm guessing i would need to use VAG to change options like language, temperature mode etc
- I would have to perform the throttle adaptation sequence
Is there anything else, like entering in the mileage, radio codes, immobilizers etc
Can all this be done by me with VAG, without going to the dealer?
If anybody has a Tutorial\procedure or something I would love to see it.
Currently I’m thinking of driving the car off a cliff and trying to claim some insurance money.
Any help is appreciated.
Cheers
