Default Replacing Front Upper Control Arms Qs...

So occasionnally ( and frequently enough ) my 99 2.8Q is clunking in the front suspension and the steering doesn't feel as sharp and precise as it should be, so I checked it out, ordered some tie-rods ends, lifted the car and when I went to install the one on the driver side I noticed there's considerable play on the front upper rear control arm. I ordered the parts and they should be here shortly.

Now the Questions.

1- How hard is it, basically? There seem to be only two bolts holding it, one at the upper shock mount and the other at the kuckle. The DIY I've stumbled upon practically drop the entire front suspension, remove swaybar link, etc. Is that REALLY necessary? I'm guessing with a air ratchet and an impact gun I should be able to do one arm at a time without much problems?

2- Is an alignment really necessary?

3- Anything I should know before attempting the job that would make my life easier? Like do I really need the ball joint separator? The old arm is shot anyway, so I guess I can just tap it with a hammer or separate it with a long flat screwdriver?

THANKS!!

I don't think you need any special tools, when you tighten your control arm bolts you are supposed to do it at curb weight.
