Replacing Ignition Switch
1. Does my 1998 Quatro 2.8L have the immobilization feature that requires the ignition key to be coded by the dealer if the ignition switch is changed?
2. If I cannot get the key out of my ignition, but the ignition still works do I need a new ignition switch?

LOL -- I assume you have an automatic and can't get the key out of the ignition.
There is a 75% chance the fix is simple. I actually made $.75 when I performed the fix!
If that is your problem you need to remove the boot around the shifter and dig out the coins and other stuff that slipped thru the gate. When enough stuff gets in there it stops the shift lever from going all the way into park and the switch does not release the key. The stuff is usually found deep at the front of the shift lever. Depending upon what fell into the hole you'll have to use things like a spring nut/screw retriever, sticky stuff on the end of a stick, ora magnetic nut/screw retriever. Sometimes needle nosed plyers work.
Have fun!! [sm=massbounce.gif]
