I've never heard of that bob, I'll give that a try. I'm also going to see if I can get that separator replaced. It was forged steel for god sake, its not supposed to break lol

Ready for this!! My 99 A6Q makes the thunk noise on the passenger side too.. It's a missing rack and pinion bolt!! Yeah, it just fell out sometime ago..

Glad you figured it out. Mine, after I replaced the upper front control arm, had to replace the rotor. Voila.
