Two questions:

1) I know the rims fitted are 17" diameter, can anyone tell me what the width is? (I'm looking to replace the rims).

2) The tyres fitted (presumably standard - I bought the car 2nd hand) are 235/45/17 - I am concidering replacing them with 235/55/17 to try and improve the ride quality (the theory being that the larger profile tyre will better absorb "high-speed bump" e.g. when riding over a pot-hole). Has anyone tried doing the same thing? Has anyone got other suggestions for achieving the desired result?
