Default Ross-Tech, No Response from Controller

Hey guys,

Wondering if anyone else has had this problem, I bought the Ross-Tech cable and license, big money but I did it so I would have the good stuff.

There is a test in the software that checks the communication between the computer your using and the interface cable from Ross-tech, passes the test fine, the interface has been found and is working properly.

When I try to do any kind of scan on the car all the attempts to talk to the controllers is no good. It says "No Response from the Controller". It doesn't matter which Controller you are trying to talk to, No Response.

I'm using Vista Home Premium, Ross-Tech "Hex-Can-USB" Interface.
Trying to talk to a '99 A6 Quattro.

No Response from Controller? Any Idea's???

Thanks in advance for any info you might have for me.

Thanks

Did you save the info for where the cable connects to like the usb port?

Is there a aftermarket radio installed in the vehicle?

Not sure I know what you mean, where the cable connects too? Goes from car's Diagnostic connector to a USB on my laptop.

This car does not have a after market stereo.

Thanks very much

Open VCDS > options > click on usb circle > click test & then save. If that does not work i would give Ross Tech a call , they have very good tech support.

I was checking the car again this morning, VCDS says the K1 line is shorted to ground.

Anybody know where to start looking for this problem?

Thanks very much!

Your going to need wiring diagrams to see what else is on the k-line. Most likely a bad module. Find out what is on the k-line circuit , unplug one module at a time until communication starts.
