I rotated the crank shaft with the cam tensioner bolts loose. The tensioner would not rise or fall; with the bolts tightened, it would. I notice for about every 90 degree turn there is a tapping sound from somewhere in the engine. Does anyone know what possiblly this sound is? is it relate to what I did? Is it a concern that I rotated the crank shaft with the bolts loose? thank you.

Well, it should noyt be a problem as far as the tentioner is tentioned again. If you rotated engine by hand and did not push it hard when it wasn't going or anything you should be okay when tentioner kicks back in. Cam alignment will be fine as long as you did not changed the chain position.

Hopefully the Chain isnt off. As long as it starts and runs ok your good.

You don't start the engine to verify alignment issues!
You rotate the engine by hand and check timing parks if unsure, as I already mentioned there are timing marks on the cams under valve covers.

The chain was not off. I was able to start the engine and it works fine. Thanks everyone!

I did notice that now whenever I leave the car undriven for a few days, it will make pretty loud tapping sound when I first start the engine again for a couple of seconds. I checked my engine oil level and it is low ( I used to leak the oil a lot). Is it related?

Perhaps yes, valves drying out a bit when not in use... Or just worn componets, sound goes away when engine heats up.

Also check your purge valve, make sure it isn't the source of the noise. I thought about replacing cam tentioner (500$) because it was knocking all the time at the passengers side, turned out to be a bad purge valve. That thing is sooo loud

Tapping noise at start up for a few seconds is normal.
