Default RPM runs too high?

Hi I'm new here and I'm thinking about purchasing a used 2003 Audi A6 3.0 quattro

While test driving it, I noticed that when going up to 60mph that the RPM rose above the 2 mark on the RPM (I guess that means 2000? I'm not too good at this ^__^).
The engine was also a little loud for a luxury car, but I'm not as worried about that as I am the RPM. I guess the normal is suppose to be at 60mph the RPM should be either at 2 or lower? o_O? This was what I found in both of my parents cars. One is a Toyota 1997 SUV and the other is a Mercedes E-something. So, two very different cars with the same type of RPM ratio

I test drove another Audi of the same model and everything, and it was the same deal. So, we concluded that it must just be an Audi thing, but it still concerns me.

Any ideas?

don't think there is anything wrong there it depends on how you were driving it to how the rpm shows and 2/2.5k rpm at 60mph sounds about right
